Join Moody Gardens® for the Earth Day and Oleander Festival as we celebrate, educate and demonstrate how our individual efforts can make a world of difference when it comes to the environment, while also paying homage to one of Galveston's most historical flowers! 

Celebrate the reopening of the Rainforest Pyramid! Check out the tropical plants from Asia, Africa and the Americas and learn how important plants are in our everyday lives. Say hello to colorful macaws, fish, turtles and anaconda.

FESTIVAL 2009 -Events Are Free

Saturday and Sunday, April 25  & 26,
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This "all green: fun-filled, two-day event features an exhibit area presented by vendor booths with your favorite plants and flowers. Exhibits and information from the International Oleander Society, Moody Gardens, Audubon Society, Master Gardeners and Naturalists and activities for children and adults will fill your afternoon. Much acclaimed and anticipated Grand Oleander Sale will be held on both Saturday and Sunday. This is the place to located those hard-to-find varieties of this hardy plant. Plenty of knowledgeable assistance is available to help you.

Activities Will Include:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Conservation Booths
  • Facepainters
  • Live Music from Lucas Miller, "The Singing Zoologist"
  • Eco-Friendly Gardening Techniques
  • Special exhibit: McGinnis collection of the Japanese Art of Bonsai


Friday, April 24

  • 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.Opening Event "Jubilee Luncheon" at the Moody Gardens® Hotel

    Enjoy a spectacular overlook of the island from the 9th floor Viewfinder Room at Moody Gardens Hotel. Buffet luncheon with special program and style show. Door prizes and silent auction. Saturday, April 25

  • 10 a.m.: Birding Tour 
  • 12 p.m.: Kuumba House Dance Theatre South African rainforest dance performance (Garden Lobby)
  • 1p.m. - 3 p.m.: Kids Krafts Session

Sunday, April 27

  • 1 p.m.: Birding Tour
  • 1 p.m. - 2 p.m: Floral Design for Kids, age up to 12
  • 1:30 p.m.: Raices del Peru Peruvian rainforest dance performance (Garden Lobby)
  • 2 p.m.: Environmental Puppet Show
