The Venturing program is a new Moody Gardens® initiative to promote education and awareness about the environment while participating in a variety of unique activities. Through Venturing Crew at Moody Gardens, you will learn how natural environments function and, particularly, how human beings can manage their behavior and ecosystems in order to live sustainably. Projects could include beach clean-ups, rain forest conservation efforts and education, continuing education, covering topics such as birding, coral reefs and many more as well as participating in numerous service learning and hands-on conservation-based activities. There are also opportunities to attend Venturing camps and trips with other crews. Moody Gardens Crew advisors and consultants are well trained and knowledgeable in environmental leadership and are excited to share their knowledge and enthusiasm.
Venturing is a nationwide program for young men and women ages between 14 and 21. Venturing programs are geared towards special interests such as computer science, medicine, engineering, outdoors, or conservation. Each Venturing Crew (group) is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America and is sponsored by community organizations such as local schools, churches, businesses and government. Volunteer adult advisors provide support and share their knowledge with members while fostering self-reliance and leadership.
